Memorising the Quran (Hifz) is one of the most rewarding journeys a Muslim can undertake. It requires patience and discipline, but with the right strategy it becomes far more achievable than most people imagine. Here are seven practical tips our students use every day.
1. Be consistent, not heroic
Memorising half a page every single day beats memorising three pages once a week. Consistency builds momentum and protects what you have already learned.
2. Recite aloud
Hearing your own voice strengthens memory far more than silent reading. It also lets you catch Tajweed mistakes early.
3. Revise before you add
Always review yesterdayβs portion before starting something new. Old memory fades quickly without revision β think of it as watering a plant.
4. Use the same copy of the Quran
Your mind remembers the position of verses on the page. Switching copies constantly makes recall harder.
5. Understand what you memorise
Even a basic translation helps the verses stick, because meaning gives the words context and emotion.
6. Pick the best time of day
For most people the early morning, after Fajr, is when the mind is clearest and distractions are fewest.
7. Learn with a teacher
A qualified Hafiz corrects your errors instantly and keeps you accountable. Our one-on-one Hifz program pairs you with expert Huffaz who tailor the pace to your ability and schedule.
